Add Different Feed Readers In Firefox 2

One of the features currently in Firefox is the ability to subscribe to RSS feeds by clicking on the orange icon from the address bar.

If you download Firefox 2 Beta 2 you also have the option to subscribe using a different feed reader (the options are Live Bookmarks, Bloglines, MyYahoo and Google Reader). This is fine, but if like me, you use another online feed reader like Newsgator then do this. In this example I will replace Bloglines with NewsGator.

I’m hoping that if it is out of the beta, they will include more options for readers. But thanks for the tip and the workaround! Anxious to see what it’ll look like once it gets out of beta. Although so many progs stay in Beta these days, we just have to hope it one day actually gets released šŸ™‚

The first release candidate is due September 19 with the final version shipping on October 24. They’ve pushed the release date back recently so hopefully it will be a quality release šŸ™‚

It’s a shame they didn’t have time to address the memory issues in Firefox 2. I was amazed how much memory it consumes. There is already an alpha release of Firefox 3 believe it or not which addresses these memory issues!
